Nate Storring

Biography

I am a writer, researcher, curator, and media producer with a focus on interpreting architecture, city planning, and urban issues for a general audience.

My writing about cities, public space, and urban literacy has appeared in CityLab, Next City, Citiscope, The Globe and Mail, Canadian Architect, Numero Cinq, and The Metropolitan Revolution blog, and I am a regular contributor to the Project for Public Spaces blog. In 2016, Random House published my first book, Vital Little Plans: The Short Works of Jane Jacobs, which I co-edited with Samuel Zipp.

I also have extensive experience producing exhibitions, events and other projects that make the design, planning, and study of cities more open to the public. Beginning with my work at Urbanspace Gallery in 2011, I have collaborated with academics and professionals who research and shape the built environment to develop engaging temporary exhibitions for a general audience. More recently, at the Chicago Architecture Foundation and BSA Space, I have expanded my practice into permanent exhibits, interpretive and strategic planning, and visitor studies.

I hold a B.F.A in Criticism & Curatorial Practices from the Ontario College of Art & Design, and an M.A. in Public Humanities from Brown University.
